SUSIE Hignett was left feeling “frustrated” with her victory in the senior women’s race as the intended 4k race ended up being only 3k after a marshalling error denied the field a final lap.
“I was pleased to win as it was my first race for a long while after suffering an Achilles tendon injury in the summer but I was annoyed the race was cut short,” said Hignett.
“We were coming through for the final lap and I was sheltering behind Kate Goodhead when suddenly the tape was across the course and we were filtered down the finishing straight.
“It was all a bit confused but I just carried on running and out-sprinted Kate. The organisers apologised afterwards but it was frustrating.”
