B&W club shoot-out will be a cracker!

THE battle to finish top Bristol & West AC 1500m runner commences tonight at the Olympic trials in Birmingham.
Current leader on time following his PB of 3:37.51 in April is David Bishop and he will be joined by Steve Mitchell, Mike Wilsmore and Richard Peters in tonight’s heats scheduled for 20.25pm.
Bishop will be smarting after being over-looked by the Great Britain selectors for the European Championships in Helsinki next week even though he is fourth in the UK Rankings and two men behind him – Tom Lancashire and James Brewer – have both been picked.
Fresh from finishing sixth in the NCAA Championships in America Richard Peters is surely due a big improvement on his PB of 3:42.69 set earlier this month but whether he can peak again so soon after his American exploits remains to be seen.
“I’m not sure how Richard will go but one thing is for sure, he is a very good championship racer,” said coach Mike Down.
England champion Steve Mitchell will do well to better that achievement but has yet to get close to his PB of 3:41.92 this summer while last but certainly not least Mike Wilsmore is also due a big improvement on his best of 3:;44.41.
