Claire smashes PB in Eastleigh 10k

BRISTOL & West AC international Claire Hallissey smashed her personal best to finish runner-up in the B&Q Eastleigh 10k road race yesterday.
The 27-year-old carved a staggering 46 seconds off the PB she set when finishing runner-up at the Bristol 10k last year with a time of 33mins 10secs to finish runner-up behind fellow international Laura Kenney.
“Having had to take a week off completely with an Achilles tendon problem and then doing a lot of swimming and gym work I was quite happy with that,” said Hallissey.
Hallissey’s time matched the time of 33mins 10.73secs she ran for 10,000m on the track last year and suggests that it won’t be long before she dips under 33 minutes this summer – maybe even in the forthcoming Bristol 10k.
In the men’s race Westbury Harriers’ 22-year-old John Colliere clocked a PB of 32:07 for 24th with clubmate Sam Dalgleish just seven seconds behind.
