BRISTOL & West AC runners Claire Hallissey and Tom Russell will be looking to end their cross country seasons with a flourish at the McCain World trials and Inter Counties Championships in Birmingham tomorrow.
Hallissey has made huge strides over the country, with the highlights this winter including a bronze medal in the British Students Championships, silver in the Midlands and a hard-earned 10th place in the English Championships.
The prize of winning a place in the British team for the World Cross Country Championships, plus substantial prize money on offer in the finale of the McCain Challenge, will ensure a very strong field lines up in Cofton Park but Hallissey is relishing the challenge.
āIād love to finish in the top ten but I expect the competition will be even tougher than at Leeds for the National,ā said Hallissey.
Twelve months ago Hallissey was 31st so top ten would represent a remarkable achievement and be a great indicator of what she might achieve this summer.
Russell was sixth in the National two weeks ago but will need to raise his game another notch to match that tomorrow as the field looks even stronger but the course and terrain at Cofton Park should suit him.
