KEVIN Heywood enjoyed arguably his best performance on the country with third place in the South of England Championships on Saturday.
The former Bristol & West AC runner had targeted the regional showpiece all winter and h is preparations proved spot-on over the gruelling Parliament Hill course in London .
“I’m well chuffed with that result,” said Heywood, who is now back with his former club Bideford AC. “I always knew it was going to be hard but I seem to run well at Parliament Hill.
“It is definitely one of my best ever runs, it is right up there. It was my main target for the winter and it is nice that it all came together.”
