Team Avon chief praises athletes after league success

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

TEAM Avon face an anxious wait to see whether they have done enough to qualify for the final of the UK Youth Development League after a tremendous finish to their Midland Premier I campaign.
Third in their opening three matches the composite under 20/17 team, drawn from clubs in Avon, finished second in the final match at Cardiff on Sunday and only just missed victory by four points.
“It was frustrating that the under 20 women’s pole vault was called off due to heavy rain and the points were shared among all the clubs,” said Rachael Fisher, one of the Team Avon team managers.
“But that was one of our best events and we have won the A & B competition every time this season and had we done so again those points would have made the difference.
“But it was still an excellent team performance from everyone who turned up.”
